Overview

Holland Partner Group is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to join our Construction Team.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

        This position is a supporting role and offers a training platform for employees with the desire and aptitude to advance to Project Superintendent position for Holland Construction.

 

Essential Job Functions: The incumbent performs the following tasks, which yields experience in the field side of the projects:

 

Office – Observe and participate as requested in:

  1. Provide information and expertise in the design and planning of projects to ensure quality, timeliness and cost effectiveness of construction as directed by Supervisor.
  2. Study contract drawings, shop drawings, specifications and quality assurance programs to fully understand design criteria for construction purposes.
  3. Provide critique and suggestions regarding design details to ensure the buildability of project.
  4. Contribute to the establishment of controlling budgets and scheduling of construction activities during pre-construction meetings.
  5. Assist in ensuring that appropriate building permits are obtained.          
  6. Oversees and directs various phases of construction at project jobsite as directed by supervisor.
  7. Monitor the progress schedule and take action to ensure project proceeds on established schedule.
  8. Order construction materials according to project specifications as directed.
  9. Schedule work activities of crews and subcontractors to effectively sequence activities.
  10. Ensure that building inspections are completed at the appropriate times.
  11. Oversee the maintenance and protection of company equipment.
  12. Order tools and equipment as directed in a timely manner.
  13. Monitor all construction activities to comply with applicable municipal ordinance as assigned.
  14. Ensure proper and accurate job layout according to design drawings and specifications.
  15. Monitor job costs and take corrective action to ensure project completion stays within budget.
  16. Maintain good relationships with neighbors of jobsite.
  17. Monitor, enforces and maintain job safety for construction project as directed and assigned.
  18. Ensure that crew is informed of, and uses safety equipment required by OSHA / WSHA regulations.
  19. Monitor subcontractors to ensure that safety requirements as delineated in Holland’s safety policies are met.
  20. Monitor construction activities and take corrective action to ensure that quality standards are met as directed/assigned.
  21. Monitor subcontractors to ensure that all work proceeds within quality assurance programs.
  22. Monitor jobsites to ensure that construction proceeds according to requirements of quality assurance programs.
  23. Manage punch lists and corrects all punch list related conditions.
  24. Ensure the completion of all construction detail to ensure customer satisfaction.
  25. Obtain occupancy permit before owner occupancy.
  26. Prepare reports and documentation to comply with company procedures as directed/assigned.
  27. Ensure that time cards / AWA’s are prepared and submitted to appropriate party.
  28. Prepare progress reports that contain labor hours and in-place quantities as necessary.
  29. Maintain an accurate up-to-date job diary for jobsite.
  30. Prepare equipment and manpower requests for construction needs as necessary.
  31. Review back-up for owner change orders, and processes back-up for subcontractor back changes as necessary.
  32. Maintain effective supervision and communication on jobsite as directed / assigned.
  33. Clearly and accurately delegates authority and responsibility to subordinates.
  34. Create and maintain productive working relationships with Superintendents / Project Manager and Subcontractors.
  35. Keep Superintendents and Project Managers informed on construction projects.
  36. Look ahead and reports potential problems.
  37. Communicate any need for in-house resources.
  38. Supervise subordinates according to Subcontract Agreements.
  39. Enhance company posture on Equal Employment Opportunity.
  40. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent with additional construction related courses of a vocational or technical nature required.

 

Experience: Minimum of five year experience in a supervisory capacity.  Previous experience as a framing or drywall subcontractor foreman is preferred.  Carpentry background is helpful.

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, and intermediate proficiency in the use of PowerPoint and Outlook is required

  • Ability to effectively supervise construction employees and to accomplish work within budget and on schedule
  • Demonstrated construction ability shown through superior performance in a foreman/ general foremen / site coordinator capacity
  • Familiarity with design-build process and ability to coordinate many people and activities involved in construction according to plan and design intent
  • Computer skills with the ability to accomplish CPM planning and scheduling
  • Ability to lift, push and pull a minimum of 20lbs
  • Flexibility in days and hours worked
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations
  • Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid Driver’s License

Working Conditions:

 

This position is in the construction environment and involves hazardous work conditions requiring protective equipment and training that conforms to OSHA / WSHA regulations. Conditions my cause some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust and noise.
